Your interest in DAN's Project Dive Exploration (PDE) is the first step toward making diving safer. DAN completed a pilot program of PDE in 1998. During this period, DAN refined the data collection process and data handling, trained FRCs and recompression chambers to use the Diving Data System; and set up Data Collection Centers throughout the world.
Currently, there are three different levels of participation in Project Dive Exploration:
Donate Your Dive Profiles
If you have your own PDE-compatible dive computer, you can donate your dive profiles to DAN as follows:
LEVEL 3 dive computer users (Cochran, DiveRite, Suunto, Uwatec):
LEVEL 2 dive computer users:
* If you are using a Cochran, Dive Rite, Suunto or Uwatec dive computer, it is not necessary to use DAN's Diving Data System to donate profiles to DAN. Instead, you can export your data directly from the manufacturer's dive log software.
Collect Dive Profiles from Others
After you have gained experience in sending your own dive profiles, you may want to expand your scope as Field Research Coordinator and collect dive profiles from your dive buddies or other divers. Contact DAN Research for more information and additional forms.
In order to assist you in your data collection efforts, DAN Research has a limited number of dive computers available for loan. To learn more about the Dive Computer Loaner Program, contact DAN Research.
Establish a Data Collection Center
If you are a FRC and work with a large volume dive center or liveaboard, please contact DAN Research to discuss establishing a Data Collection Center.
